OK, I admit it - I love smoked foods!  So much so, that I wanted a smoker that was easy to use, and usable in any kind of weather.  After searching the internet and visiting stores, I couldn't find anything suitable.  So I decided to totally modify the Luhr Jensen Big Chief electric smoker.  I hope you find the result as amusing as I do!  Believe me, this was not approved by the folks at Luhr Jensen!  Note to them - if I burn my house down, it MY fault!  Please meet the:

The hut is made of plywood, lined with concrete tile backer board, with 2" insulated walls containing foam insulation, and the interior is insulated with bubble foil.  It has a door for the outlet strip so you can plug in from 1 to 3 burners, and another door to get to the smoker inside.  It's finished in cedar shingles, and is on casters.  It weighs a ton since it contains a full sheet of plywood, a full sheet of concrete, and a whole bundle of shingles - not to mention framing materials, etc.  Thus, wheels are essential to move it around!

The concrete backer board is a firewall, however I have not gotten it to heat higher than 425 degrees, and things don't burn until you hit 451 degrees!
